My April Love: A Charming Obsession

Tuesday, April 28, 2015

Hello everyone! I have decided that at the end of some months (if I have something I have REALLY fallen for and taken notice of) I am going to let you all in on that love that I formed during that month. At the beginning of this lovely month of April, I discovered Alex and Ani, a jewelry company that all of you have probably known about for years whereas I just found out about recently. I really had no clue what Alex and Ani was and had never even heard the name before; as you can probably guess, I figured out very quickly that it was a company that specializes in jewelry. After finally taking the time to look up the company and browse their selection, I knew I had to have one of their pieces for myself.

I learned that there was a Disney collection for their bangles and, being the huge Disney fan that I am, this discovery excited me very much. I fell in love with the Cinderella "A Dream is a Wish..." bangle, but it is ALWAYS sold out unfortunately. So the day I went to purchase a bangle out at one of the Disney parks, they did not have that specific one... but they did have one that I realized I would adore having even more. And thus, this The Lion King "Hakuna Matata" bangle became my first of what I knew would be many purchases from Alex and Ani...

My "Island" Staycation

Sunday, April 26, 2015

This past weekend I was able to cross off one of the goals on my 101 in 1,0001 Days list - take a staycation! A close friend and I spent the night in a Walt Disney World Resort, something we have both always wanted to do. With a special Passholder discount, we managed to score a room in the Caribbean Beach Resort for a pretty reasonable price. At the front gate and during check-in, we were greeted many times with the phrase, "Welcome to the island." Our room, located in the Trinidad area, had an adorable little Pirate theme that we enjoyed very much; it definitely added to the excitement of being at Disney for the night and made us feel exactly how an adult should feel at Disney World - like a child!

Website Update!

Saturday, April 25, 2015

Hello everyone, I hope you all are having a wonderful weekend so far; look forward to a blog post tomorrow about mine!

Recently I decided to make my website a bit more official - A Southern Sunshine is now under it's own domain! I purchased it a few days ago and finally got all the kinks worked out; basically, the difference is that there is no more ".blogspot.com" but instead just ".com" (it's more thrilling than it sounds, I promise).

I am super pumped to be taking my blog to the next level! I even have a lot of new and interesting blog posts in the works and plan to start posting outfit posts as well so that my blog is seen not just as a lifestyle blog, but also a fashion one.

If you are a follower on bloglovin', please follow the new blog (the name would not change so I lost all of you... bummer, I know). The link is under my haileyasteuer profile or you can also search www.asouthernsunshine.com. Please if you are not already also follow through the Google Followers widget to the right of this post - it only takes two seconds and you'll forever be updated when there is a new post on my blog (Edit - it's actually transitioning right now, so you cannot follow from there - try again tomorrow)!

Thank you all for cooperating during this very exciting transition and I cannot wait for you all to see the newly remodeled blog soon!

Painting Fun

Saturday, April 18, 2015

On this lovely Saturday, I went out and tried something new with one of my closest friends. Something we have always wanted to participate in is a painting class at a place called Painting with a Twist. And at the last minute, we decided to finally go out and give it a shot...

Just Keep Swimming

Thursday, April 16, 2015

There is a famous fish that we all know. And let's be honest here: she is not the brightest fish in the tank (or ocean, I guess I should say) and has a hard time remembering important information every now and then. But the people of this planet love her despite her flaws; if you still have not figured out who I am talking about based on this introduction and the post title, I am speaking of Dory from the popular Pixar movie Finding Nemo.

Now I know what you are probably thinking: "Where could this crazy girl possibly be headed with this post about some fish in a children's movie?". Well, let me explain my deranged logic to you...

LC Lauren Conrad Collection Updates

Friday, April 10, 2015

Lauren Conrad is one of my top inspirations - probably my #1 to be honest. Her style is absolutely beautiful, her blog is flawless, and there are just so many amazing qualities to this exceptional woman. My hope is to one day be even just half as great of an icon as she is to other people - a girl can dream, can't she?
