My "Island" Staycation

Sunday, April 26, 2015

This past weekend I was able to cross off one of the goals on my 101 in 1,0001 Days list - take a staycation! A close friend and I spent the night in a Walt Disney World Resort, something we have both always wanted to do. With a special Passholder discount, we managed to score a room in the Caribbean Beach Resort for a pretty reasonable price. At the front gate and during check-in, we were greeted many times with the phrase, "Welcome to the island." Our room, located in the Trinidad area, had an adorable little Pirate theme that we enjoyed very much; it definitely added to the excitement of being at Disney for the night and made us feel exactly how an adult should feel at Disney World - like a child!

After a bit of exploring, we hit up Magic Kingdom before making our way to a dinner reservation at Paradiso 37 in Downtown Disney (if you are ever looking for a nice place to eat in DD, I definitely recommend!). Following dinner, we went back to the park for some fun attractions and to watch Celebrate the Magic and Wishes, the nighttime castle and fireworks shows. I also could not keep from buying one of the ear hats so that I could get my name stitched in the back - it's something I have been seeing a lot lately and I just had to do it for myself! Cute, right?!

We partied in the Kingdom until about 12:30 a.m. The next morning we had a delicious breakfast at the hotel food court and went for a swim in the main pool. There were slides and a hot tub and even this hammock on the beach right beside the pool (island paradise remember?). After getting a bit of relaxation in, we unfortunately headed back home to reality.

My experience staying at a Walt Disney World Resort was absolutely amazing! Has anyone else ever had the opportunity to stay at one? Let me know in the comments below what your experience was like. Hope everyone had a fantastic weekend!
