Monthly Reading: June 2015

Saturday, June 6, 2015

Another month means another book! This month, I'm going to tackle two highly popular books that are both very different from each other - they aren't even close to being in the same category. I have no problem with this at all though, I like to believe that variety is a great thing in everything you do. One book is a biography that has only been out for about a month that is by a very successful social media superstar, whereas the other is a bestselling fiction novel that was released back in 2013 that still manages to grasp the attention of teens and young adults today.

1. Leave Your Mark: Land Your Dream Job. Kill It in Your Career. Rock Social Media. by Aliza Licht
This book has some killer reviews already, and it has only been out for just a short period of time. As the DKNY PR GIRL on Twitter and a global fashion communications executive, Aliza Licht has learned a thing or two about how to be the most efficient and prosperous worker you can be. Aliza Licht's rise to stardom took a lot of time and effort like any great successful woman's would, and in this book she gives valuable advice while teaching important lessons that she has learned through events that happened in her life. Reviews state that this book is a perfect read for anyone trying to improve upon career-related skills and expand their presence in the media world, so it only makes sense that a student like myself who plans to take on a business-specific major gives this a read.

2. Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell
Since its release, Fangirl has capitivated readers of this era - especially the fangirls who can relate to its original yet realistic story line. Although I have only ever been at about a 5 for any music group or artist on the scale from 1 to Fangirl (and thus can't relate much to a fangirl's life), I have a feeling I'm going to really enjoy this bestselling novel and still manage to find some similarities between the main character and myself as the story moves forward.

Let me know in the comments below what books you plan on reading this month, or if you have any opinions on the ones I'm going to be. Can't wait to sink my toes in the sand while enjoying these entertaining reads!

  2. These both sound awesome! I'll love to read Leave Your Mark, I'm sure it would be helpful for any new bloggers out there as well. I plan on re-reading some Harry Potter this month as I watched one of the movies the other day and now I simply have to read the books!
